Ways to Measure the Length of ASTM A213 P11 Alloy Steel Pipe

Depending on the process requirements of the manufacturer, ASTM A213 P11 alloy steel pipe has several ways of measuring length. Today I will introduce four main methods of measuring the length of a steel pipe.


1, Grating Length Measurement

The basic principle is that two fixed-length grating scales are respectively arranged on the two outer ends of the steel pipe, and the grating rod is driven by the rodless cylinder to be close to the two ends of the steel pipe to measure the length of the A213 P11 alloy steel pipe by using light interference phenomenon.


Characterized by high accuracy. However, grating scales are expensive and difficult to maintain, and are sensitive to the effects of dust and site vibrations.


2, The Camera Measured Length.

Camera length measurement is the use of image processing to achieve A213 P11 alloy steel pipe length measurement, the principle is in a section of steel pipe roller conveyor to install a series of equidistant photoelectric switch, in the other paragraph plus light source and camera. When the A213 P11 alloy pipe passes through this area, the length of the A213 P11 alloy pipe can be determined by the position of the photo switch on the screen taken by the camera through a camera.


The characteristic is that online measurement can be realized. A213 P11 alloy steel pipe can obtain the length data when it passes the length measuring area without interval. The disadvantage is that if the special light source is not irradiated, the steel pipe will be interfered by the outside light, and after the special light source is used, the steel pipe will have a strong reflection on the pipe after chamfering and will easily cause reading error.


3, Encoder Length Measurement

The principle is installed in the cylinder encoder, the use of fuel tanks to promote movement in the roller on the other side of the installation of a series of equal distance photoelectric switch, when the A213 P11 alloy steel tube is pushed by the cylinder end photoelectric switch, from the record Encoder reading, conversion of cylinder stroke, so you can calculate the length of A213 P11 alloy steel pipe.


Characteristics of the length of the pipe needs to be raised. In addition, photoelectric switch detection there is a certain error, may need to fully measure.


4, Improved Encoder Length Measurement

This method is an indirect method of measuring steel pipe length indirectly by measuring the distance between two end faces of the pipe and their respective reference points. Set at each end of the steel pipe length measuring car 1, the initial position of zero, spacing L. Then move the editor length to the respective pipe end travel distance (L2, L3), L-L2-L3, which is the length of the A213 P11 alloy steel pipe.


This measurement overcomes the A213 P11 alloy steel pipe bulky, complex production site environment, measurement agencies can not cross the lower support steel pipe and other difficulties. This method is easy to operate, measurement accuracy within ± 10mm, repeat accuracy ≤ 5mm.
